Car and truck accidents are always in the news, but what about individuals or pedestrians injured on our roads. San Bernardino statistics show that thousands of pedestrians are hurt or killed by automobiles, motorcycles or trucks while walking along a road or crossing in a crosswalk. They are usually the victim of a negligent or reckless driver. Many intersection accidents are because of a speeding car, driver distraction or drunk driving.
A pedestrian hit can suffer a catastrophic injury. Pedestrians do not wear helmets and run the risk of head injuries when hit by a car or truck. Other injuries include fractures, spinal cord injuries or even wrongful death.
If you or a loved one is involved in a pedestrian accident, I advise you to contact an experienced Personal Injury attorney. You should be entitled to compensation for pain and suffering, medical bills and/or lost wages.

A construction site is a potentially dangerous place to be; unfortunately, it is the workplace for thousands of construction workers. Construction workers not only work at elevated heights, they also lift heavy objects and operate large machinery.
Many construction site accidents happen because of negligent contractors or site managers. A few examples of typical accidents include a building that collapses because of defective construction and/or materials, scaffolding that falls, fires or explosions, a worker that falls from a high area or falling objects that hurt workers or individuals below.
If you are the victim of a construction site accident, please contact an experienced Personal Injury attorney who will investigate the safety regulations in place.

The Journal of the American Medical Association reports that there are about 800,000 dog bites each year. Some of the bites are severe enough to require a doctor’s care.
A dog attack can leave a victim with nerve damage, which can be very serious. The nervous system controls everything the body does – from breathing to movement to feeling hot and cold sensations. A dog attack can also leave an individual with emotional trauma. It can take quite awhile to feel safe again.
If you or a loved one has been bitten or attacked by a dog, first seek medical attention and then consult with an experienced Personal Injury attorney who will fight for you to get compensation for your medical expenses, pain and suffering.

For those of you who do not know what a personal injury calculator is, let me explain. It helps you determine the amount you can claim for damages and losses from the person who caused the personal injury. It also gives you an idea what lump sum amount you will receive for your settlement.
The personal injury settlement calculator takes into account your medical expenses (both present and future), any rehabilitation you may need, wages, pain and suffering, etc. These and other factors determine your settlement amount. I would advise you not to settle with the insurance company without consulting an experienced Personal Injury attorney first.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported that a young woman lost control of her vehicle in Hesperia, rolled over several times and killed the two other young people in the back seat. The car accident happened at 2:00 a.m. One of the passengers died at the scene and the other died at a local hospital. The passenger in the front seat sustained minor injuries and was released from the hospital after being treated. The driver was still in the hospital at the time of this writing.
The accident is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department – they are not sure if alcohol is involved. If it was, once again – I have to alert you not to drink and drive - it results in disaster and worse.

Unfortunately, the New Year brought pain and suffering to a 9-year old girl in Big Bear. An unidentified snowboarder ran into a 9-year old girl causing her injuries. The snowboarder sped away without stopping to see what he did or if the little girl was okay.
The girl received a compound fracture to her femur plus several severe facial injuries. She was flown to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed this accident to call them at 909-866-0100 with any information they have. The snowboarder is a white man somewhere between 25 and 30 and about 5 feet 10 inches. He was last seen in a black and white jacket, black pants and holding a black snowboard. It is a crime to leave the scene, especially when someone is need of medical attention.

Slip and fall accidents cause thousands of injuries every year. A slightly wet floor in a supermarket can cause a broken leg or permanent spinal cord damage. It can land an individual in a wheelchair for the rest of his or her life.
Who is responsible? Premise liability law governs slip and fall accidents, determining who is at fault - every case is different. The court asks if the property owner took all precautions to make the area safe, was the victim careless? A victim must prove that the property owner caused the unsafe condition by knowing about the situation and doing nothing to fix it. The victim must prove that a “reasonable” person would have fixed the problem once finding it.
A slip and fall can cause a victim long-term problems. An experienced Personal Injury attorney can help you by investigating the facts and reviewing your options with you.

Here is a perfect case of medical malpractice. I am sure everyone has read about the doctor who treated Michael Jackson when he died. This doctor not only administered medication to Mr. Jackson that he should not have, but left him alone to make phone calls while doing so.
Finally, prosecutors are preparing to indict Mr. Jackson’s doctor, on a charge of involuntary manslaughter. The doctor will be prosecuted for gross negligence - his treatment was not the standard followed by other doctors. The doctor is claiming he did not prescribe or administer anything that would have killed Michael Jackson. He administered a drug that is used in hospitals - not at home.
The prosecutors must show there was a reckless action caused by the doctor, which created a risk of death. It will be decided whether the doctor has the expertise to administer this powerful drug, propofol - the drug believed to have killed Mr. Jackson. Propofol should be administered by an anesthesia professional in a medical setting - not by a cardiologist.

Are you aware that if you attend a party, drink too much, drive home and get involved in a fatal accident, the host of the party may be liable for your actions? The host may be liable because he or she should have stopped you from getting behind the wheel drunk. This is a case when a wrongful death is not the result of a person’s negligent actions.
Do us all a favor, never get behind the wheel of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

I thought I would begin the year off by summarizing what a personal injury is. A personal injury is the result of the negligence of another person. It can occur from an automobile accident, a slip or fall on a wet surface. It can happen outside, inside a grocery store or other type of store, or at your friend’s home.
In order to bring a lawsuit against the responsible party, the injured individual must prove that his or her injury was a result of another person’s negligence. A personal injury claim is not easy to prove. An experienced Personal Injury attorney knows just what to look for and makes sure you receive compensation for your injury.
