Motor Vehicle Code 21228 states, “Bicyclists and scooter enthusiasts are legally required to ride inside bike lanes when lanes are available.” This law refers to scooters that travel less than 30 mph.
Always proceed with caution when riding in a bike lane; watch for slower moving individuals. Unfortunately, some car owners park in a bike lane. If you are riding a bike or scooter in a bike lane and a parked car is blocking your way, be careful when you ride around it – watch for oncoming cars. Make sure you are traveling in the same direction as other vehicles. Be familiar with the “Rules of the Road”.
If you are traveling in a bike lane and involved in an accident, contact an experienced Personal Injury Attorney who will investigate the accident for you.
