California Highway Patrol reported that last week a 35-year old man, was riding his motorcycle on Highway 18 near Cody Road when he sideswiped a pickup truck turning right.  Upon impact, he was ejected and hit by another pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist had three children, ages 15, 13 and 12.  A memorial service was set for him. According to his mother, everyone loved him and he will be greatly missed.  My heart goes out to his family, especially his three children.

California Highway Patrol is investigating this fatal accident.

Lucerne Valley was the scene of two motorcycle accidents recently.  A post office employee, was riding his motorcycle on Custer Avenue when he attempted to pass two vehicles in front of him by crossing a double yellow line.  As he attempted to pass, one of the vehicles turned left into a driveway and the post office employee crashed into it.

The post office employee was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with a broken leg and an injured pelvis.  Doctors performed surgery on him and his condition is improving.

California Highway Patrol is investigating this accident to determine fault.  I hope the individuals involved contact an experienced Personal Injury Attorney to determine who is responsible and compensation involved.

According to the San Bernardino County Coroner’s office, a 63-year old man, was the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident in Fontana recently. The man was traveling on Slover Avenue when another motorcycle rider sideswiped him; he was ejected from his seat.

Paramedics took him to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The Fontana Police Department reported that the second motorcyclist had no injuries although there was some damage to his motorcycle.

The police are investigating the accident.  My sympathy goes out to the family of the victim.

There is nothing worse than being involved in an accident, even a fender bender can ruin your day.  However, when you are involved in a motorcycle accident, serious bodily injuries can occur or it could be deadly.  Motorcyclists have no protective barrier between themselves and the concrete road.

Motorcycles are fast and go in and out of traffic quickly – speeding can cause severe consequences.  Statistics show that about two-thirds of motorcycle accidents are a result of a motorist turning into the motorcyclist’s lane, violating his or her right of way.  In addition, motorcyclists have a much higher rate of death than a passenger does in an automobile.

More than three thousand people died in the United States last year because of motorcycle accidents – many due to negligence of the driver.  If you are a victim of a motorcycle accident, I suggest you contact an experienced Personal Injury attorney who can investigate the accident for you and make sure you are compensated for your expenses.

Recently a 23-year old San Bernardino man with an outstanding warrant for a domestic violence conviction crashed his motorcycle while being chased by police.  The man was declared dead at the scene near Highland Avenue and Lincoln Street.  There were no other vehicles involved.  It is believed that the man was under the influence of alcohol at this time.

San Bernardino Police reported that after seeing the man run through several stop signs, they tried to pull him over.  Instead of pulling over, he sped up.  Witnesses indicated that he was traveling over 100 miles per hour when he lost control of his motorcycle, hit a curb and fell off his motorcycle.

Records show that he pleaded guilty in September 2009 for domestic violence.  He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, placed on three years of probation and ordered to complete a domestic violence batterers’ program.  He failed to appear in court for a probation review at the beginning of March and a warrant was issued.

If you drive a motorcycle in San Bernardino County or any county, I suggest you take extra precautions.  Statistics show that four counties in California, including San Bernardino, have a high number of motorcycle deaths and injuries.

The California Highway Patrol is working to promote motorcycle safety on California freeways and roads by reducing the number of fatal accidents and injuries by implementing a 24-month traffic safety program.  This program will be in effect until September 2011.  The program will include a public education campaign with two public service announcements promoting the use of helmets.  In addition, 15 motorcycle safety presentations will be conducted in high-risk cities.  This program is being funded by the California office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
