The remains left in the ashes of a fire are devastating.  Not only do victims suffer from painful and disfiguring burn injuries and the loss of property, but the emotional effects of losing irreplaceable family items can take years to overcome.  To make matters worse, they find themselves without the comfort of a home to return to.

Fire and burn victims must rebuild their lives when a fire destroys their homes.  The costs and expenses are astronomical – replacing the home and its contents, medical bills, and lost wages.

If you are the victim of a fire caused by a defective product, improperly maintained property or someone’s negligence, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will help you get the money you need for medical expenses and to get your life back on track – an attorney who will fight to hold those negligent parties accountable for their actions.

Pottery Barn Kids is recalling over 80,000 Audrey, Chloe, and Sophie soft dolls in the United States.

The company has received several complaints of dolls with looped hair, including one in which a loop of the Chloe doll’s hair was found around the neck of a 21-month old child.

These dolls were sold at Pottery Barn Kids stores, on its website, and through its catalog from July 2006 to April 2011.

If your child has been injured because of one of these defective dolls, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will investigate your case and make sure you are compensated for your expenses and your child’s injuries.

For those of you using the birth control drugs Yaz, Yasmin, and Ocella, let me remind you that these drugs can cause dangerous side effects.

Statistics show that these products are dangerous for women to use – even though they can provide an effective means of birth control. Taking these drugs can result in serious injuries and in some cases, death.

If you are using these drugs, look for possible side effects that include blood clots, a myocardial infarction, a heart attack or stroke. Consult with your doctor for a complete list.

If you have suffered a serious injury from any of these drugs, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney to see if you are entitled to compensation.  Taking these drugs can put your life at risk.

Did you hear about the woman in Palm Springs who was driving along Indian Canyon Drive when a utility trailer on the electrical truck ahead of her detached itself and crashed into her?  By the time police arrived on the scene, the woman was pronounced dead.

Police stated that the man, an electrician, was headed to a job.  They do not believe alcohol, drugs or speeding caused this fatal accident and they continue to investigate.

I urge them to seek advice from an experienced California Personal Injury attorney who can further investigate why this woman died. He or she can determine if there was a defective product connecting the trailer to the truck or if the condition of the road caused the accident.

According to the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, about 7,000 Vulli teething rings are being recalled by the Dana Point company that makes them.  Apparently if the ring is punctured, bacteria and mold can grow inside, causing an ingestion hazard to infants if the liquid is swallowed.  Symptoms include diarrhea and vomiting.

The teething rings were made in France and sold at children’s stores nationwide and at Amazon.com from January 2008 through November 2010.  To learn more about this recall, visit the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website at www.cpsc.gov.

If you have one of these teething rings, stop using it immediately.  The company has reported no illnesses as of this time.  However, if your child has gotten sick because of one, contact your doctor and then an experienced California Personal Injury attorney as soon as possible to determine if you can be compensated for your child’s sickness and expenses.

A 79-year old man of Montclair was killed in an accident on the 40 Freeway near Barstow recently.  The man was a passenger in an SUV when a tire lost tread making the automobile swerve off the road, causing it to roll numerous times.  There were five other people in the vehicle, all injured.

It is unclear why the driver lost control or what happened to the tire.  The accident is under investigation.  My thoughts and prayers are with the man’s family at this time.

If you are the owner of a Toyota and have been involved in an accident due to a manufacturer defect, you are not alone.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that almost 100 deaths since 2000 may be linked to sudden acceleration.  They received over 6,000 complaints concerning sudden, unintended acceleration in Toyota vehicles between 2000 and May 2010.

Toyota Corporation now faces over 300 lawsuits, including class action involving personal injury, death of economic loss.  Over 8 million vehicles were recalled worldwide because of sticky gas pedals and misshapen floor mats.  Toyota has agreed to pay a $16.4 million fine for not alerting auto-safety regulators quickly.  Toyota will install advanced brake-override systems in all new models next year.

If you or someone you know has been involved in an accident because of Toyota defects, I urge you to contact an experienced Personal Injury attorney who can help you be compensated for any injuries or expenses incurred.

The Orange County Register recently reported that there have been 34 alleged deaths from Toyota vehicles since 2000.  According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, complaints about the Toyota Prius hybrid grew by about 1,000 in a week.  Toyota has recalled 8.5 million vehicles in the United States and other countries because of gas pedal, floor mats and brake problems.

The government is investigating these problems.  According to a Toyota spokesperson, Toyota has repaired about 500,000 of the 2.3 million vehicles recalled because of a sticky gas pedal.

If you are a victim of a crash or death because of faulty Toyota equipment, contact an experienced Personal Injury attorney who can answer your questions and help you with compensation for any losses incurred.

Toyota’s problems keep going.  Now, U. S. safety regulators have opened an investigation into problems with the brakes on the 2010 Prius.  The Prius is the world’s top-selling hybrid vehicle.  The Nikkei newspaper reported that Toyota would recall about 270,000 new Prius vehicles in the United States and Japan.  However, Toyota representative Mike Michels said Toyota has no plans for suspension or a recall for the United States of Prius vehicles at this time.

The U. S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said they received over 100 complaints about braking problems after drivers rolled over bumps or potholes.  They advised that four motorists reported accidents because of the braking problem.

Toyota sold approximately 140,000 Prius hybrids in the United States last year.  Toyota reported that they have reworked the software program that controls the interaction between the regenerative braking and friction braking systems.  According to Prius owners, the regenerative brakes slip on bumpy and/or icy roads causing the vehicle to lurch forward.  This happens before the traditional brakes engage.

This is another example of when manufacturing parts fail the driver and cause personal injuries.

In the November 2009 journal from the American Academy of Pediatrics there is an excellent article regarding booster seats for children 4-8 years old.  It describes how proper booster seats reduce injuries children sustain if involved in a car accident. To read the entire article, visit http://pediatrics.aappublications.org.   A few years ago, the San Bernardino County Traffic Safety Task Force worked with the SAFE KIDS Inland Empire organization to educate families about the importance of child passenger safety.  One of their goals was to clarify the some of the misunderstood points about California’s child car seat laws. California laws require a child to sit in a safety seat or booster seat in the back seat of a motor vehicle until at least 6 years old and/or 60 pounds.

However, it is an unfortunate fact that the safety precautions that you take are only as good as the products that you place your trust in.  Recently the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that the Dorel Juvenile Group issued a recall for over 28,000 Maxi-Cosi Micro Infant Child Restraint Systems that they manufactured.  Apparently, the base has a tendency to warp and does not protect the child the way it should in the event of an accident.  The company will send all registered owners a new base.

Defective products can include design and manufacturing defects, mislabeling and deceptive marketing. Improper labeling or warnings can cause devastating injuries to your child.  If the manufacturer has taken short cuts to bring the product to market, they can be held responsible for injuries caused by their defective product.  But only an experienced defective products attorney can cut through the complex web of information that the other side’s attorneys and insurance companies’ attorneys will throw up to hide their mistakes.  If you have been involved in an accident where there was a defective product, you should immediately contact an experienced personal injury attorney.
