Many commuters were late for work the other day when a big-rig accident in Montclair caused a traffic nightmare on Interstate 10.

It began when a driver of a passenger vehicle lost control for unknown reasons and crashed into the big-rig.  The big-rig driver swerved to the left of the road and crashed into another vehicle, causing both vehicles to slam into the center divider.  The impact caused the big-rig’s diesel tank to rupture, causing the semi to catch on fire.  It took firefighters over an hour to extinguish the flames.

The rig-rig driver and one of the other drivers were taken by air to nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Crews used a crane to upright the big-rig while Hazmat personnel cleaned up the spilled fuel on the ground.

Reports indicate that a vehicle traveling on the westbound side of Interstate 10 in Montclair struck a big-rig truck late the other night, causing the truck to hit the center divider, spill diesel fuel onto the freeway and then burst into flames.

It appears that the driver lost control of his vehicle before hitting the big-rig.  An innocent bystander stopped and pulled the big-rig driver out of the truck.  The trucker and one of the other drivers involved were taken by air to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The fiery accident caused the lanes in both directions to be closed for several hours.  The accident is under investigation.

A 36-year old man riding his motorcycle on the eastbound Interstate 10 Freeway in Fontana the other night lost control and crashed into the back of a big-rig tractor trailer.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating to determine the cause of this fatal accident.  They are checking to see if the motorcyclist was speeding or if the motorcycle had a mechanical malfunction.  In addition, they are checking to see if the big-rig driver could have been at fault.

I would suggest that the family of the motorcyclist consult with an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney about the possibility of filing a wrongful death lawsuit because if the big-rig driver is found to be at fault, he and/or his employer could be held liable for compensation of medical and funeral expenses.

Two freight trains clipped each other early the other morning, derailing six cars in an underpass below Interstate 10 in Colton.

The impact caused the tanker cars to fall over – causing the day to become very hectic for many commuters when Interstate 10 was closed for more than two hours.  In addition, two Colton schools were closed and emergency workers and locomotive crews were kept busy for most of the day.

Luckily, no one was injured, but the crews did refer to the accident as a hazardous materials incident because one of the tankers was carrying toxic liquid.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.  If you are injured because of a train derailment or a hazardous materials spill, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will investigate the case for you to determine if you are entitled to compensation for your injuries and medical expenses.

The California Highway Patrol reported that a woman traveling on the southbound Interstate 10 in Cabazon died when her vehicle turned over.

Statistics show that mechanical failures contribute to about 15% of all automobile accidents; this number can be reduced with proper care of your vehicle.  In some instances it is the manufacturer’s fault.  Manufacturers use quality control procedures to make sure their vehicles meet quality expectations and are safe to drive.  However, sometimes a defective part may slip through the process, causing an accident.

Details of the accident are not known at this time.  If the investigation determines that her vehicle turned over because of a mechanical failure, her family may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the parts manufacturer.

Contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will investigate to determine if there is proof that a defective part caused this woman’s death.
